"Explosion cerebral" zine (Peru):

1- How was the beginning of the band?

Turannos (guitars): OSIRION was born in 2001 in Sapaudia (ancient name of this land in the highest French mountains). After several futureless BM/DM bands, I was searching a singer to help me to make a demo tape; I only wished to be a one-man-band at this time, in order to avoid usual conflicts; but he presented me some musicians ready to play live, among them a terrific drummer; then I though in myself: "Why not?"; then, we drink, smoke… and spread the BM plague in our land….

2- From where do you take your inspirations to do your music?

Turannos: my frustration, my hate, my doom are incarnate in my music! My horror dreams and my lust of domination too! Death, Satan, war and nihilism are my favourite inspiration subjects …Old films and the history feed my inspirations too…

3- About your releases, are you satisfied with them, how do you create them, who have support you to the promotion?

Turannos: we made our two demo tapes ourself, helped by our comrade Arnaud as a producer; the first with an analogic recording, the second with a numeric recording: the sound is really better! Then, we are recording our album with a 16 numeric pists recorder… At first, I did the promo myself, and the French UG has supported me! The solidarity is quite real in the UG! They appreciated our music and it was a chance for OSIRION. Then, a small UG label, D.U.K.E., purpose us to sign and promote our 2nd assault; it was done in feb. 03 a.b. . And our 1rst album is soon out (feb.05) ; its promo will done exclusively by D.U.K.E., our label.

4- Will you release a DVD, how is the recording, will you do a tour special to the DVDr?

Turannos: we 're not famous to be purposed some tours! Ah ah! But we plays about 2-3 gigs a year, and we filmed them; we are making a DVD-r ourself, cause we have in our possession too much material…A killer video clip is already done for the title "Ultime assaut" (="ultimate assault", the album is totally written in French language!) ; perhaps would it be signed at Symbolic prod…

5- How makes all the lay out and art of your releases, are they fit with the music?
Turannos: we did the artwork of the first demo ourself : it's cheap but not terrific! A medieval representation of the Beast, simply taken in a book, was put on the cover. But the artwork of the second demo was better: designed by Kurgan (D.U.K.E.'s boss) in black and white: it presents 4 famous men in the history, whom life is described in the lyrics: yes, in this case, the artwork was fit with the lyrics. For the album, our boss is doing the cover too. I await the result! But if you have money, you can find a terrific designer to do your cover: Necrolord, JP Fournier…

6- Why do you think that Osirion is not the common black metal band, which are the commercial bands that you hate?
Maldoror (bass) : Musicians who attempt , by any means necessary, to be "original" or "uncommon" are generally stupid and talentless guys. The only matter for a Black Metal band is to be violent, unhealthy and grandiose!
Turannos: we'ra a bit different because we have a complete line-up and do gigs: it's better than all these one-man-bands with a rhythms box closed in their cave! And our show are powerful on scene so the crowd become mad! Nonetheless, we won't "redo" the BM! Our BM belongs to the old school spirit who rule in the BM scene; our lyrics are well written, better than the others, always claiming "Hail Satan!!!" in each chorus! Concerning the music, it's a terrific mix between black and thrash "old school" (in reality, the black of the beginning: Sodom, Kreator, Bathory, Venom…) with a quite powerful sound! Our riffs are various, the tempi often change…Our music bring rage and head banging!!!

6- Do you have other projects, or is Osirion the main band and idea in your life?

Turannos: I have a small thrash/death side-project with a friend, just for fun; but OSIRION remain and will remain my soul and my favourite band! I'm the manager of OSIRION.
Maldoror : I also play in two others extreme metal bands, but Osirion is my priority.

8- What do you know of Peru or Southamerica?

Turannos: Ah! It's seem to be so far for us, but I know quite well your landscape and history! Maya's empire was sometimes superior to Europa in knowledge before 1492 (astronomy, jewellery, architecture…)! Lots of people forgot it here! We have some contacts with South America : recently, we get in touch with Brazil (Cannibal killer zine), Peru (you!) and Cuba (Sickening news zine). It's quite terrific to be heard and supported over there! The rumors tell in Europe that the public is totally made during the gigs! Great international metal bands as Dark Funeral, for example, often recorded live performance in south America ! Metal heads from South America rules!!!
Maldoror : You're lucky to be a young country : in South America, the people is young and, thus, the future is promising for the nations. I was told that metal-heads were numerous in South America, whereas in France, we are fewer and fewer! Not only your past is rather great, as Turannos said, but you have the opportunity to achieve great things in the future.

9- To you, Black Metal is only music or also a life style, why?

Turannos: we play BM, cause we think BM, we live BM, we're BM! It couldn't be otherwise; those who often change their style are only some awful "trendies" and we can guess quickly who is a trendie in the BM scene! Then, we do the best to give him the disgust of the BM! Ah Ah! Those who tell you that BM is only a cool music are totally out of order! They'd better make love with gays, while listening pop music!!! BM= metal + Satanism !!! I'm 31 years old and I would never change my advice concerning that question!

10- Are you satanist, do you practice any kind of any evil path, do you believe in any in special?

Turannos: I used to be a Satanist, believing in Satan as a fallen angel… then, I wondered : if Satan lives, Jesus lives too! Who is the supreme master? It was a big problem for me! And the metal heads around me, so-called "satanist", were only foolish guys…Then, I found the solution myself while reading, regarding Satan as a life philosoph, as the C.O.S. see Him… Paradise, Hell, Heaven, God, Purgatory, are some christian creations, as a I wrote it in the title "A sign of Evil?"…It's the usual view about Satanism in European metal scene, I think…Some fanatics Satanists (Dissection belong to one of them) act in secret …I respect them…

11- Have you played in live, how are your shows?
Turannos: yes, some shows are planed for 2005: each show is better than the previous: now, we're wearing raged black or military clothes, with spikes and inverted crosses; we're not statics on scene, in order to give our rage to our public, and the feed back is terrific: po-go, head banging, screaming…. What a Hell !!!

12- Do you use corpse paint, do you think that now the corpse paint is a fashion way?
Turannos: Yes, we use paint corpse, leather and steel because it's the tradition in the BM scene, and it's quite terrific to play on scene, dressed as our barbarian ancestors, isn't it? Judas Priest created the style and I don't think the BM must be thought in term of "fashion"; indeed, some people, sensitive to trends would tell you: "it's was good before, it's no more cool now….". Why ? It's so stupid to think like that! They'd better listen to gay-progr'-jazzy music!!! BM is a cult, not a trend! We must respect our background and the standard built by the ancients one…
13- Have the politic any interest in you, how do you see the problems in Irak, is the fault of who?
Turannos: OSIRION isn't concerned by politic as a band; but, we've each our own political ideas, of course! We are not headless or lobotomised by medias; I think you already know the point of view of French people on that question, and mine is quite similar: the situation in muslims countries is too dangerous and not so easy to understand: it's too pretentious to make war, in order to end old ethnics problems; as for me, Sadam Hussein was a "less worth" dictator, better than the actual civil & religious war. Then, lots of politicians from Europe and USA were friendly with him before, earning petro-dollars during the '70s ; strange, no? USA make war in Irak by lack of knowledge concerning this old civilisation; of course, islam is the worst shitty religion in the world, but we must fight against it more properly…For instance, in Europe, we should fight the wearing of their stuff on the women's face, stopping building some places for their hateful cult with our money…Integrist muslims are cool guy… at home !!!

14- How do you see your actual black metal scene, what about old bands like Agressor, Loudblast, Witches are they still in the battle?
Maldoror : The old bands you mention are always fucking great, but you mustn't overlook the new French black metal scene, which is quite outstanding. If French metalheads are getting very rare, French bands never stop creating wonderful albums.
Turannos: Hey! You know terrific, old and famous bands from France! Yes, I'm fan of Loudblast (they recently came back! I saw them on tour!) and Agressor! They are the French pioneer with their death/thrash metal! I don't know Witches. But I know terrific true BM bands: Reverence, Temple of baal, Nehemah, Himinbjorg, Anteus, Eternal Majesty, Ases, Mutiilation, Gorgon, Animus Herilis, Otargos…You should get in touch with some of them! The French BM scene has never been so numerous and good!

15- Will you sign with label like Century Media, Nuclear Blast or Moonfog, why?
Turannos: No, of course! Two reasons appear:
- We are not too much interesting for these labels!!! We're are not as much famous, cool and trendies or best musicians!
- Then, signing with these big labels bring only problems: we're no more free to create as we want, there is too much financial pressure, too much work to become a clever musicians…
The question is irrelevant! Ha ha!

16- Any future plan?
Turannos: our album "Har Sabbat" is soon out (feb.05) at DUKE's, our label. It will contains 11 tracks : 9 inedits (among which an instrumental overture), an Impaled Nazarene's cover (performed faster!) and a bonus track ("A sign of evil?", new version 04) : the sound is a good UG BM one, but quite powerful !
Some gigs are planed too … Some appearance on French UG tape compilation are planed too : Morbid tunes of the black angels part VII, Tribute to old school spirit part II, Extermination ProcessI, Litanies infernales zine II…We will print tee-shirts too, with "me libera Satanas" written in the back ; and achieve a live DVD-r. Anno Satana 2005 will be very loaded for OSIRION!

17- Any last comment?
Maldoror : Don't think about the fucking great world war which is coming, and enjoy forbidden, unhealthy and badeful pleasures!
Turannos :Set you free from monotheisms plague! Too much religion endangers your life ! You should never stop the madness: drink, fuck and play loud! See you soon in Hell !!!

"MORBID TUNES..." COMPILATION part VII



1. Introduce shortly your band (date of birth, the most important things concerning its evolution….)
OSIRION was born in nov. 01 a.s. in Sapaudia (ancient name for this beautiful land in Alps mountains) as a two-men-band. Then, two members joined us to play live. DUKE was quickly interested in us, and I use to fire and replace the first singer to strengthen the line-up.

2. Why did you create this band and what is (are) its goal(s) ?
My goal was to crush the sympho-trend scene and fight for the "old school" spirit. Perhaps we are just a drap of water in an ocean, but my personal engagement in the UG scene (my associations, articles on my webzine and gigs) make this fight real.

3. Why this kind of music?
As for me, BM music is the most powerful, ugly, and anti-religious music it has never existed. Indeed, it's the most beautiful in my ears, a new norm destroying the old-fashioned beauty, creating a new beauty, desperated and hateful. My personality and values are incarnate in BM music, especially my music with OSIRION.

4. Your reference into this kind of music (bands, individuals)? Why ?
The Nordic BM "revival" scene of the '90 (Burzum, Ancient, Darkthrone, Dark Funeral, Emperor, Satyricon, Immortal…) of course, but not only: the "good" metal, born in the '80s are engraved in my heart : Area Bay (Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth) and german (Sodom, Kreator..) thrash metal, nordic extreme metal (Cemetary, Unleashed, Necrophobic, Centinex, old Dark Tranquility…), and the N.W.O.B.H.M. (Judas Priest & Iron Maiden). Traditional but strong choice, isn't it?

5. Your opinion about compilation tape ?
Tape compilation is the base, the nostalgia, my metallic childhood ; in spite of the arrival of the CD and its default, tapes recording keep its charms; I edit myself a BM compilation tape (but not so cult as yours!) named " A Tribute to the Old School Spirit" (I'm making the number "II"), with UG band making covers of cult bands, get in touch!

6. Your opinion about the UG scene?
the European "Real UG" scene is very active : North European BM is not dead, with Tsjuder, Waitan, Dark Fortress, and many more. The UG French scene one isn't so shitty as we could hear many years ago: goods things rise (Maleficentia, Ad Hominem, Nehemah, Himinbjorg, Otargos, Malleus Maleficarum…) and shits too.

SICKENING NEWZ zine (CUBA)

1 Hello ! to begin with, we'd like to know how does that perverse and somber, brutal philosophy of OSIRION manifest itself in your personal lives ?
Turannos: as for me, our personal lives made us create a perverse, dark and brutal music: we can express ourselves by the way of OSIRION. Personal problems, disgust of this world, conflicts with each others (boss, neighbours, girlfriends and others daily assholes)… We can't kill our enemies right now, it's glad, but we can vomit directly our hate with OSIRION!

2 As it is, OSIRION, plays brutal old school BM, but we would like you to describe your music in your own words, intentions?
Turannos: We want to fight under the true BM standard, against the trends which made the BM commercial and without conviction: Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and all these shits with female voices and keyboards ! A scorched screaming voice, total grinding drums and abrasive guitars are the true BM. In order not to be boring, OSIRION adds its typical old thrash touch: it's better on scene: the public enters on OSIRION with head banging and pogos! Therefore, our music is quite dark and depressive when we listen to it at home, alone, with a French red wine glass in the hand…
Maldoror : though we play old school black metal, we often endeavour to bring a new "feeling" to this kind of music. Sometimes "oriental" touch ("Qualis artifex peres"), sometimes punk elements ("Elric's curse"), sometimes " Iron Maidenian" riffs ("Me libera satanas", "Demetrios Poliorcete")…

3 Do you regard Satanism as supreme ideology of your music? What is the message you want to spread through OSIRION's music?
Turannos: Satanism take a great place in our lyrics; we want to spread an individualistic and freedomful Satanism: we don't take part to these inverted Christians, worshiping the Bible made Beast! It's better for us to extol the individual power and success, the total freedom towards our instincts, desires and dreams; but we respect individual Life and Freedom of others too: we just feel free to practice the seven sins! Sorcery and black mass were one of the rare means to be a rebel few centuries ago, especially for women…Our Satanism is an homage to these free spirits! Finally, we are more tolerant than these stupid and narrow-minded monotheist adepts, Muslims, Jews or Christians.

4 Cuban metal heads do not know your work. Could you explain the differences between your first demo "An opus for Lucifer" and "Evil made history"?
Turannos: "An opus for Lucifer" was a two men band, with a Rhythm box and no financial means: the sound and the riffs are loud, insane, ugly, quite "old school" and very satanic!!! "evil made history" was recorded with a drummer and a numeric sound: this tape is faster, powerful, hateful and still dark; a concept about mad men of history (Jack the ripper, Neron and Timmur Lang emperor…) binds the 4 inedits titles. 2 demos gave 2 ambiances; the Lp should be different, between the 2 demos…

5 Is it too difficult for French UG extreme metal bands to record their material with high sound and quality?
Turannos: France (and the south of Europe more generally speaking) aren't some metal nations; these countries are more interested in pop music, and all stupid trends vomiting their shit on the radios… and giving more and more money ! Better, the metal scene is devoured by jealousy, laziness, selfishness, chaotic organization, … Not professional in a word! Then, it's very difficult, and expensive for French UG BM bands to produce their music! We must fight to promote our music, buy our material, learn ourselves the notice… Osirion was lucky to meet Arnaud of Alkemyst, a friend who plays in a heavy/speed metal band signed at Nuclear Blast. He decided to be our producer. Sometimes, the low quality of the sound is a goal, to honor the great pioneers of the BM, but some are not so inspired as their pattern…

6 Do you often play gigs? How would you describe one of yours? Any significant happened to you during concerts?
Turannos: We played during six shows, not numerous but terrific: crowd became quick insane while we're playing!!! Head banging and po-go are the law! Blood often really spill! See your video film! Hu hu! We play in our land, when we are approached to do it.
Maldoror: during our first show, a genuine warfare happened! That was exactly what I expected!!! Great!!!!

7 Some metal heads have the idea that the musicians live by the standards set by the emotions, messages and atmospheres of their music. Do you think this happen with OSIRION?
Turannos: we are ourselves, and I think we defend the spirit we have in us: total subversion, an eye for an eye, black tee shirt and often long hair, true with friends, hateful with assholes, bored by the stupid live working 8 to 5! We imagine a new world, without restraint, only pleasure! May our guitars break this world!!!
Maldoror: I agree with Turannos, however I think metal standards are more and more superficial, and sometimes ridiculous. Even if I have long hairs and black clothes, I don't think those futile elements really make the "black metal way of life". Self destruction, freedom of thought and despite of everything are more important to me…

8 Would you divulge you age, what you do, whether you have a normal job, your interests?
Maldoror : I'm 24, and I study literature, in particular the work of the great Lautréamont, "Les Chants de Maldoror". Each of black metal themes (hatred, cruelty, misanthropy, irony…) is contained in this wonderful poetry. I'm also fond of comic books…
Turannos: I'm 30 and I study History ! It's my second passion, added to extreme metal. I write for several metal zines (Transitmag, Horde Noire webzine), I read comics too, and fuck the most I can!!! We love meet each others during great stoned parties, listening extreme metal.

9. Do you have any parallel projects to your band OSIRION?
Turannos: we have all some personal metal projects as fun, but nothing serious and pregnant as OSIRION. For instance, Barbituric, our drummer, plays in a local grindcore band and a BM band (Taos)…
Maldoror: I play in an other True Black Metal band called Helegion, in the spirit of Venom or Darkthrone… A kind of Black metal a bit slower than Osirion.

10 In which way would you prefer dying? In a solid or an extremely brutal way?
Turannos: I hope I wish to die at the moment I feel useless and became a weight to my family: by lack of secure and medicine, before becoming too old (In France, a man could live during 76 years, a woman 82!!! It's the worldwide maximum! What's the matter?). The best should be grinded by a car, quickly, without suffering! Hey, what a cool program! I preach torture, but for my enemies! Then, burn my corpse and spread the ashes in the vast forest!
Maldoror: I'd like to die of an overdose, or in the bed of a bitch, after having obtained huge pleasures…

11 What are your goals for OSIRION? Do you feel that metal fans follow and back up your music and gigs?
Turannos: our goals are : end the composition and recording our first album (at DUKE's), play more gigs, and drink more beer! We would never be a famous band and it's not important for us: we just want to have good time, spreading the black plague!!! Up the horns!!!

12 I know you must like the old BM groupes, could you list some of them? Is there any new band(s) that caught your ears? Do you pay attention on the recent scene?
Turannos: I'm totally devoted to old '80 American and german bands : Slayer, Sepultura, Anthrax, Metallica (until 1988), Megadeth (until 1990), Sodom, Kreator…And nordic pioneers, first and second waves above all: Bathory, Emperor (RIP), Darkthrone, Marduk, Burzum, Satyricon, Ancient, Sacramentum, Dissection, Immortal (RIP), Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, Impaled Nazarene, Limbonic Art (RIP), Enthroned..; I love US and European death metal too: Deicide, Death, Obituary, C.Corpse, Cemetary, Dark Tranquillity (old), Obscenity, Necrophobic and many more… I saw some of them on scene, what an orgasm!!! I follow the recent and french scene too, as I'm redactor in chief in a French extreme metal webzine, La Horde Noire (www.la-horde-noire.fr.st): the UG scene is terrific, with numerous bands which should be supported.
Maldoror: my favourite bands are Enslaved, Immortal, Slayer, Emperor, Pantera… I also listen to the 70's and 80's cult heavy metal bands (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Manowar, Black Sabbath…) and to French black metal scene (Himinbjorg, Nehemah, Anorexia Nervosa…).

13 This intie is ending, if you want to say something you feel has to be said?
Turannos: What an astonishment when I knew that Cuba was interested in OSIRION! What a pleasure too! With Brazil, you're one of our further support! Indeed, your island is so beautiful and make us dream, but you surely have reasons to improve hate, and worship extreme metal stronger than we do!!! Hail'n'kill!!!
Maldoror: thank you for everything, and keep to support the French Black Metal scene, there are a lot of great UG bands!!!!
